"Thank you for such a fun time. Salsa dancing on the sea front (Shame the fab teacher wasn't local as I would have signed up.) The riding stables put on a great display of dressage to music which we loved. It was wonderful to see so many happy people around the town. BRILLIANT"
From Kate McNally
"We attended the BMX display at Lime Kiln car park with our two young children, aged 2 and 6. It was a really exciting event with a great atmosphere, and it was so good to see so many people there. I would love to see more events like this where people of all ages enjoyed the afternoon. It was good to see something aimed at young people that engaged the whole of the community."
From Nadine Ebsworth
"The festival was a great idea and was very well executed. Well done! I participated in the photo competition, and, although I didn't win, I feel it has motivated me to go out and take more photos. I was particularly impresssed by your excellent web site, and the fact that you managed to update it each day. I look forward to the next festival. Thanks."
From Brian Ward
"Congratulations on a very successful venture. My wife and I, both 65+ very much enjoyed the guided walk around Budleigh Salterton on the Sunday. The guide was brilliant, as was the walk and also the weather!"
From Barry Wilson
"We've had a brill weekend, trying out break dancing, archery, riding and cycling. We've been inspired by Everest summiteer Dave Pearce and roared with excitement when Kye Forte did a somersualt on his bike! The best bit for me, was the atmosphere in Lime Kiln car park after Kye Forte and his team had performed their amazing stunts. Young and old stood around chatting in the sun. The car park was buzzing with community spirit!"
From Maria McGlashan
"Thank you I enjoyed the whole festival, especially the events I took part in: Breakdancing, Archery, Talk with Dave Pearce and the BMX performance. I am thoroughly looking foward to next years festival. Thankyou once again."
From Finn McGlashan
Many Thanks to the organisers for giving us access to such wonderful opportunities. "Active Budleigh has been brilliant. There has been something for everyone. The break dance, which my 10 and 11 year old children took part in was superb! We also experienced a great turnout for the football training and my parents thoroughly enjoyed the guided walk around the town. The Lymekiln carpark was a sight to behold on Sunday afternoon - extreme bmx-ing and mobility scooter racing in one venue!! Loved it. Well done to everyone who made this happen."
From Jocelyn Wilson
"A huge thank you to you for organising this wonderful event. Three generations of our family all found something wonderful to see or do. I particularly loved seeing the local lads being coached by a world champion BMXer (what an opportunity for them), whilst other folk raced mobiity scooters or admired classic cars. Only in Budleigh! We also loved the events at the stables, and the general feeling in Budleigh that weekend. It was really buzzing, for want of a better word. I do hope you repeat this event, and thank you again for all your efforts."
From Fiona Hogan
"Just a short note to say how fab the festival was. We spent over two hours at the riding school on Sat and then went to free football and to see the BMX show on sunday. My six year old loved the football session, although he ducked out after 90mins when his stamina failed, but I wish I had sent my younger daughter too, and wish it could happen every week! The BMX show was an eye-opener to say the least, and to have all this free here in Budleigh is amazing. I would have liked to have sent my little girl to the labyrinth dance, but at 4yrs she was too young - please do this festival again so that we can all try different activities as our energy levels and abilities change!! To have so much to do and try was just great and everything that we tried ran on time and was well organised. A great effort, thanks!"
From Jennifer Wood
"The sheer array of events open to all ages covering so many interests and ability levels was very impressive. It was really uplifting to see so many people out and about really enjoying themselves. Budleigh is a fantastic place and it's great for the community - old and young- to come together."
From Susan Gebbie
"The BMX was very cool. It was fabulous! I liked the back flips. George liked the 360's. The bushcraft was really fun too. The peashooters were cool. My brother ate stinging nettles, and we looked at badger footprints which was really interesting."
From Ned Mills
"We weren't able to attend many of the events as (frustratingly) we were away but we were here for the Sunday and had a great day. It was excellent to see pedestrians/cyclists put first for a change and the use of the lime kiln car park was excellent. My children were thrilled to watch the BMX display and they (and I) were holding our breath at many points of the display. It gives an increadible insight into the skill of the riders and the benefit of the facilities in place with the skate park. I loved the photo competition and, as a Budleigh resident (born and bred) am pleased to finally see the promotion of events aimed at younger people, showing them what is available to them and what can be achived, given the opportunity. A big well done to Trudie and Team who made it such a great event."
From Julie Cotton
"I would just like to say thank you for the lovely weekend that my family and I have had last weekend during Active Budleigh Festival. Saturday morning for her first taster pony ride (£1.50 donation requested). I took my 5 year old daughter up to the stables at Dalditch lane for some "mummy time", we spent 3hrs up there in the cafe and watching the displays. In the afternoon £1 for a 1hr and 15min swim in the st peters pool. I had a very happy 5 year old all for £2.50! She even went to bed saying "I can't stop smiling, lovely day Mummy, thank you". I took the praise with n on of the work! On the Sunday Daddy took both our girls (5 and 2) to the BMX event. They were both excited to tell me that they "high fived" some boys! The cost of this excitment £0. Thank you again, we are an active family but it is lovely to throw different things into the mix, that they would not oridinarily watch or try doing."
From Donna Hitchcock
"Fantastic event, congratulations on achieving a successful first Active Budleigh Festival, raising the funds and most of all congratulations to the team of people who organised it and the people who contributed to making this a special event for Budleigh."
From Sharon Rehbock
"Hi, I went along to several of your organised events over the weekend and I was extremely impressed with the range of activities on offer & how well everything was organised. I am a local personal trainer and my main aim is to get as many people exercising outdoors as possible so I love the idea of your festival. I would be very interested in getting involved if you run it again next year, I currently run weekend classes on Woodbury common. If you would like to know more then please get in touch and I would be very happy to work with you at the next festival."
From Jenny Bolsom
